Organic Kingdom

The final submition for Organic Kingdom can be found at the bottom of this web page. This page is the main influences and the process of creation. The initail research and preious submitions can be found by clicking this link:"Tumblr". My idea is to take the sound samples we were given and sample them into a song with the aid of a producer. After creating a song, I set off to make a music video which fit with the music. I set myself 24 hours including editing. There were other songs created but this one had a positive vibe which gave us an opertunity to create a positive, fun and happy video. The idea was to see how visuals and sound comunicate and link them in a relevent way. I have decided to ellaborate in further detail my method and theory behind this project. I feel my submition for this is at an adequate state I just wanted to expand on this and focus deeper on Point 2 Pixle & Passing Time.

The video featured in the finally of Organic Kingdom is footage of Fortune Musiwa & myself. The idea behind the visual is what happens when two artists with no paint armed with and a camera recact in the space of 24hours. We wanted to see what we could create. Initially we had the sound samples which were in the folder provided with the brief. Then we felt we could sample these sounds into a song which is provided bellow.

Within this song we sampled some sounds from this video of David Attenborough talking about the songs of birds, but not any bird a bird which is like a chameleon with its sound, it replicates the sounds of its environment. My interpretation of Organic Kingdom was; using an audio trigger that makes the audience respond to a visual narrative. My visual narrative was the environment two artists found themselves in creating, adapting a song and visuals. My theme is improvisation, innovation and adaption, like a chameleon, or in this case the Lyre Bird.

While on the journey we encounter a saxophonist and this is the recording we had of his music. I felt it would be great to sample this within the song as it captivates the environment of the narrative.

I have mentioned that there was a 24hour time period for this project. This was inspired by JME's 48hour mixtape. JME a British rapper was set this challenge by Noisey part of Vice Publishing. Due to the short time period I was given when I submitted BA4 I thought this idea of a short time period to create on impulse and captivating your enviorment, not to rush but to go with instinc other then method, could work well.

This is our outcome:

In conclusion I feel it would have been great if we created the song after the footage. I feel like this because then we could have sampled sounds from the environment, fit music to the visual narrative. None the less this could be the right way round, the music could have inspired the journey of the day. The creative morning and the feeling of pride after creating such a beautiful song could have enabled us to know what we should be filming, where we should go and the feeling we should have. The narative was improvisation, innovation and adaption and I feel the music, and the visual both embodied these feelings. I feel the audio triggered emotions to make the audience respond to a visual narrative, in this case they were synonymous.
